- FEDNOR INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS CENTRE (IBC)
The FedNor International Business Centre (IBC) is committed to making a positive difference in the global competitiveness of Northern Ontario. Working in partnership with community stakeholders and business leaders, the FedNor IBC develops and implements key strategies to strengthen linking to international markets and promote greater opportunities for the North. Since its creation in 2003, the FedNor IBC has been the focal point for trade development in Northern Ontario and through its funding and development programs has developed the trade program into what it is today.
- MINISTRY OF NORTHERN DEVELOPMENT, MINES AND FORESTRY (MNDMF)
MNDMF delivers programs and services across Northern Ontario that help provincial economies and communities prosper and grow. They have identified four strategic sectors to support for promoting northern Ontario goods, services and investment opportunities:
• Mining
• Value-Added Wood Products
• Biotechnology
• Aerospace & Aviation
- DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE (DFAIT)
DFAIT is the federal department responsible for trade activities in over 150 posts throughout the world. The Trade Northern Ontario Network serves as an natural extension of this network in Northern Ontario. On the origin side, qualified referrals are made to appropriate Trade Commissioners located abroad for in market intelligence, specific information on how to conduct business in the country, and assistance with foreign business contacts. On the destination side, the Trade Northern Ontario network works as an extension of trade service to the DFAIT network in the region of Northern Ontario. Trade opportunities which involve companies in Northern Ontario are consummated by operation in close cooperation with DFAIT representatives throughout the world. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) works with a range of partners to achieve increased economic opportunity for Canadian businesses.
• Foreign Market Interaction Services for Canadian Businesses - DFAIT’s Canadian Trade Commissioner Service offers four key services which are designed to support the growth of Canadian companies internationally.
• Trade Commissioner Services - Province to help Canadian companies develop their international business, including investigating market prospects, identifying key contacts, and providing relevant advice and market intelligence for Canadian companies that have selected their target markets and that are implementing or ready to implement their export strategy.
- ONTARIO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXPORT MARKET ACCESS (EMA)
Export Market Access: A Global Expansion Program is designed to assist small to medium size organizations (SMEs) to access and expand their growth in foreign markets that are beyond the U.S. Export Market Access is an initiative of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC), with support and funding from the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada.
- NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL CANADA INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (NRC-IRAP)
The Industrial Research Assistance Program is a technology network that supports companies and organizations across Canada by providing financial and advisory assistance. NRC-IRAP is the Government of Canada's tool for helping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)) develop new technologies that result in the commercialization of new or improved products and processes.
- ONTARIO MINISTRY OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TRADE'S INTERNATIONAL TRADE BRANCH
The Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade's International Trade Branch team of knowledgeable international trade specialists assists small and medium- sized companies evaluate their export readiness, identify the right markets and export opportunities for their product or services, and develop targeted market access and expansion strategies.
